About us

We are John & Tanya Young and we have been in the design world for over 40 years.
In 2021 we appeared in the BBC’s Scotland’s Home of the Year TV Show getting second place in the Highland’s and Islands.
Not a bad achievement considering they only gave us 3 weeks to prepare, before they arrived with the full camera crew.

We had many late nights until 3am working to get the house as finished as possible. We finished two bathrooms and a hallway just in the nick of time. In fact we’re sure the judges must have smelt the new paint as soon as they entered. It was all good fun though and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would we do it again – WE’LL SEE!

A passion for interiors

Our castle apartment at the time was a mixture of industrial, steampunk and sumptuous colours. We deliberately chose this route for the apartment as we felt it had to be warm, inviting and in keeping with the castle. We used Farrow & Ball paints, Graduate Collection Wallpapers, Industville Lighting and Emma Shipley Linen’s. Equally, some projects we have been involved with are bright and airy as each property has it’s own unique and individual character.

Over the years we have built up great relationships with interior and gardening suppliers, food and drink manufacturers and a host of talented artists. We are also connected to architects, joiners and electricians who all add to our growing team.

The next journey for us.

We have recently bought a plot of land and have designed our new home which will be a black house with lots of glass, metal and a lovely 12ft overhanging veranda. Perfect for the Scottish weather. So check back regularly for progress. The house was inspired by a Scottish Longhouse and a Barndominium. I know, we didn’t know what it was either until we discovered one.
